General safety guidelines for Essential Oils: Do not take any oils internally without consultation from a qualified
medical practitioner. Scroll down to see oils I have
used internally under published advice from an Aromatherapist. Keep oils away from the eyes and never use directly in the eyes, nose
or mouth. Keep oils in a cool dark place away from medicines, especially homeopathic remedies as the strong smell of the oils may render them ineffective. Most have a shelf life of up to 5 years but citrus oils such as lemon will begin to fade after 6 months. Keep well out of the reach of children and never allow children to play with the bottles. Do not under any circumstances use essential oils if you are epileptic or pregnant, babies and very young children without first consulting an expert. Toxic levels of some substances can build up very quickly in small bodies and so it is recommended that young children under 12 are only treated after consultation with a professional. Or stick to the child-safe oils like Lavender and Geranium in dilution It is your responsibility to consult a qualified medical practitioner for mental, behavioural or physical symptoms which may require diagnosis and medical attention and before trying any complementary therapies. Only apply oils in a gel base if exposed to the sun as oil bases can cause burning. Citrus oils such as lemon, lime, bergamot are photosensitisers and should not be used within 12 hours of exposure to the sun, so always check with a good reference book first. You can use FCF (furocoumarins/Bergapten free) Bergamot Never force oils onto a person even in the hope of doing good. Always
respect their feelings and privacy and right to refuse help.
Internal Use of Oils and their Benefits : I can personally vouch for Internal usage of 4 essential oils under
the published advice of an Aromatherapist. I am in excellent health for
it and I would prefer them any day to the medicines for that with their
sideeffect and toxin buildup in the body. Dosage: Just put 1 drop in half a cup of warm water with 1 spoon of honey or suger. Stir well. Take a spoon every 5 minutes or as you want till symptoms subside. This is the pleasantest way to take Oils internally. I especially enjoy clary Sage. Peppermint oil for Nausea and Gas. Especially for Morning
Sickness bouts when the only thing that will stay in your stomach is nothing.
Peppermint helped me many , many times through my first Trimester. Clary Sage -This I take for pain in my stomach in the menstrual period. I can rub a few drops mixed in a base on my lower belly for immediate relief- but I find I generally repeat it after a few hours. Internal use regulates the hormones and some such things, I only know that I dont have to repeat it and why waste expensive and rare oil? I got smart and take it when I feel the low pain and depression setting in -and then I feel like I'm back on top of the world.. It really helps me when I'm low and unromantic due to PMS or during to put my attitude up... Yeah, I would say this is an aphrodisiac.. specially when you are NOT in the mood to get intimate and want to be left alone. Sandalwood Once I was stuck in a foreign country which
I had just gone to and I found out I had picked up a Urinary infection
of some sort. I panicked coz I was just married and picked up my Aromatherapy
book by Maggie Tisserand. She mentioned 6 drops of sandalwood everyday
for about 2 weeks will clear ever urinary infection. And so it did...
Use only Mysore Sandalwood Oil for this. Juniper to help with water retentions |
